Less Knee Pain and More Mobility
I’m so glad to have consulted with Regenexx. I have suffered with arthritis in both knees after years of distance running and it had gotten particularly bad over about a 3-year period. My crutches were always near on standby. I’d had two meniscus surgeries and numerous Cortisone injections. I was in the run-up to a knee replacement, and a second would follow a bit later. As I did more research on replacement, I learned that although an enormous number of them are done each year and, although you don’t openly hear many complaints, they’re out there. Dig deeply enough and you’ll find a higher-than-expected percentage of knee replacement patients who experience some level of regret, as they were not given proper expectations, or had resulting complications. Many had knee pain similar to what they had before replacement. Some even say flatly that they would not do it again if they could get a do-over. I liked the idea of doing something non-surgical. Particularly if it was regenerative or restorative of my own natural tissue.
I consulted with physical therapists and medical doctors before I made my decision. My most trusted resource was a retired pain management physician who was very transparent about not knowing much about stem cell or PRP therapies. After explaining my circumstances to him, he asked for time to do some homework. A week later, he told me he would be reluctant to pursue stem cell therapy unless I was “dealing with the Regenexx people”. This was the very group that my employer had just engaged with in order to offer associates a non-surgical alternative to joint replacement! He also helped me understand that there are many clinics out there advertising stem cell therapies, but they are radically different from what Regenexx does. Beware!
One of my knees has been treated with stem cell injections and a PRP “booster”. The other has been treated with PRP. Although they are not “like new”, my knees are feeling better now than they have in three years. My knee pain is substantially diminished, and I am more mobile than I’ve been in a long time. When we were younger, I was a pretty fast walker and my wife often said from behind me, “Would you slow down please?” I had not heard her say that in years – until 2 weeks ago!
Regenexx is very transparent. Stem cell injections are not for everyone. Treatments are not rapid-acting. But if it is indicated and you are patient and can tolerate some ongoing discomfort for awhile, and if you have access to a good PT, the approach may well be very worthwhile! You can get significant improvement, save money, and even delay surgery indefinitely or permanently.

Rapid Relief, Exceptional Care, and a Transformational Outcome
My Experience with Upstate Regenerative Medicine & Regenexx
I’m relatively young and had suffered for years with severe chronic low back pain that significantly impacted my daily life. The team at Regenexx was exceptional from the start—they were incredibly kind, went out of their way to get me scheduled quickly, and took the time to answer all of my questions. Throughout the process, I was treated with dignity and respect, and their level of professionalism and precision truly stood out.
After researching all available treatment options, I concluded that the Regenexx Super Concentrated Platelet (SCP) approach offered the lowest risk and the highest likelihood of long-term success. Based on what is typically expected with platelet-based therapies, I was prepared for several days of increased pain and inflammation following the procedure, followed by gradual, incremental improvement over an extended period of time.
Instead, I experienced rapid pain relief, followed by continued improvements in mobility and function over the days and weeks that followed. For the first time, I’ve been able to get down on my grandkids’ level and pick them up—something I was not able to do before because of my chronic pain.
The outcome has been transformational for me and far exceeded my expectations. Based on my experience, the Regenexx approach is unparalleled, and I would highly recommend it to others exploring regenerative treatment options.

Improvements following failed injury rehabilitation
I am a rather healthy 69-year-old male. While taking decorations out of storage for Christmas, I descended a ladder and missed the last step while carrying a box. When I landed, my left leg collapsed and I incurred terrible pain. I could not move my leg and thought I may have broken my hip.
After a trip to the emergency room and my doctor, it was revealed that I had partial tears in my gluteus medius and corresponding tensor fascia late. After a year and a half of rehab, I was still in enormous pain with reduced function.
Upstate Regenerative Medicine suggested that Platelet Rich Protocol (Regenexx) might be helpful. I had the procedure done and after three months of careful rehab, I am back to normal. The procedure was relatively painless and I believe very helpful in my recovery.

Renewed Quality of Life
My Experience with Upstate Regenerative Medicine & Regenexx
I am writing to share my personal experience as a patient who has undergone Regenexx PRP injections under the care of Dr. Brian Jakubowicz at Upstate Regenerative Medicine.
I have suffered from chronic pain for over 20 years and have pursued a wide range of treatments to find relief including acupuncture, physical therapy, chiropractic care, steroid injections, trigger point injections, every oral medicine, cream, and patch they make. Steroids specifically raised concerns for me due to their potential for long-term side effects, and lack of sustainable relief.
Despite all these efforts, my pain progressively worsened over the past few years. In the two years leading up to my injections, I sought care from four different chiropractors/physical therapists promising to offer me relief yet continued to experience significant and escalating discomfort.
At this time, my pain was so severe that I was unable to sleep on either side due to left hip/back pain as well as right shoulder and neck pain, and I was frequently shifting every few minutes between sitting and standing because I could not get comfortable in any position ever. I was having constant shooting pains from my neck and right shoulder, making use of my right arm for extended periods next to impossible.
I was dealing with debilitating pain daily that made it increasingly difficult to perform my duties as a Psychiatric Physician Assistant and care for my patients effectively. I was afraid I was going to lose my job because I could no longer keep up with the demands of the role, something I was able to push through in the years prior and have never been concerned about in my entire life. Through my work as a Clinician, I have seen firsthand everyday how chronic pain can profoundly affect a person’s emotional well-being, functioning, and overall quality of life. I was frustrated, overwhelmed, and scared for my future when I met Dr. Jakubowicz and his team.
My Regenexx PRP injections were administered in multiple areas: my lower back due to an L4/L5 annular tear with nerve root impingement 2x, my cervical spine due to degenerative disc disease, and my right AC joint area.
Since receiving those injections, I have experienced meaningful improvement. While I continue to live with chronic pain related to autoimmune condition, the severity of my left-sided back pain, neck pain, and right shoulder pain specifically has significantly decreased compared to where I was over a year ago. I am now able to sleep on either side and no longer find myself constantly shifting between sitting and standing due to discomfort. I have a much easier time keeping up with the demands of my job. These areas no longer cause most of my pain, and same level of daily suffering. I can participate more fully in activities of daily life that give me meaning and purpose.
I especially want to emphasize the exceptional care I have received from Dr.Jakubowicz, Jen & LaCole at Upstate Regenerative Medicine. I hear horror stories every day from patients in the Pain Management space about their experiences with other doctors and clinics. I am so grateful that has not been my experience at all with these folks. Their ongoing unwavering support, compassion, and commitment to my well-being have played a significant role in the progress and improvements I have seen and directly improved my overall quality of life.
Sincerely,
— Jade C
